Verify all contents: extender unit, power adapter, Ethernet cable (if included), and quick install guide. Check for physical damage.
Write down your home WiFi name and password. The extender will connect to this and rebroadcast it.
Many brands have a mobile app for easy setup: TP-Link Tether, Netgear Nighthawk, TP-Link Deco, D-Link Wi-Fi, ASUS Router.
Open areas, elevated off floor, hallways, between floors. The LED signal indicator shows connection quality — aim for green or blue.
Near microwaves, cordless phones, enclosed cabinets, behind TVs, or thick concrete/brick walls. These cause interference and signal loss.
Plug near your router. Wait 30–60 seconds for the LED to stop flashing and stay solid.
Find the WPS button on your router (back or side). Press and hold 2–3 seconds until the WPS LED blinks.
Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender. LED will blink then glow solid when connected.
Once paired, move the extender to halfway between router and the dead zone. It reconnects automatically.

Plug in the extender. Go to your phone's WiFi settings and connect to the extender's factory network (e.g. "TP-Link_Extender_XXXX").
Open the app, select your extender, and follow the setup wizard. Enter your home WiFi password when prompted.
Use the same SSID as your router for seamless roaming, or a different name like "HomeWiFi_EXT". Same name is recommended.
Connect your device to the extender's default factory network (printed on the label).
In a browser go to: tplinkrepeater.net (TP-Link), mywifiext.net (Netgear), or 192.168.0.1 (most others).
Select your home WiFi from the detected networks, enter the password, and click Save.
Extender reboots. Reconnect your device to your home WiFi and verify coverage in the target area.
